GES Maintains Ban on Post-Graduation Ceremonies, Warns School Heads
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reaffirmed its ban on post-graduation ceremonies until further notice, describing the growing trend of lavish displays of wealth and flamboyance at such events as an alien culture that does not align with Ghanaian values.
Addressing the media, the Director-General of GES, Prof. Ernest Davis, disclosed that a committee will be established to investigate reports of extravagant post-graduation celebrations, as well as speech and prize-giving events being organised by some Senior High Schools. He added that private schools found flouting the directive will also be investigated.
Prof. Davis issued a stern warning to heads of schools, urging them to strictly comply with the directive.
“If they can’t change the situation, the situation will change them. I will remove them from office,” he stated.
